Katrin Linse of the British Antarctic Survey will speak on:
Marine benthic biodiversity of the Southern Ocean and how species identifications are vital for applied research and policy.
Her presentation will cover an introduction to the Southern Ocean benthic biodiversity, the discovery of “new” Southern Ocean ecosystems, e.g. under-ice, methane seeps and hydrothermal vents, newest discoveries in the anatomy and ecology of some unique species, and the role of biodiversity in assessing Marine Protected Areas around Antarctica
